Decades of Experience.
At Seeger Salvas LLP, we have an unparalleled depth of knowledge about orthopedic implant litigation that is rooted in our years representing orthopedic companies. We now use that experience to represent victims who are injured by defective orthopedic implants.
Brian Devine, one of the firm's partners, worked for years at Sulzer Medica, a global manufacturer of hip and knee implants. As its Assistant General Counsel, Brian was responsible for all of the firm’s product liability cases worldwide. When the company suddenly had to recall several thousand hip and knee implants in December 2000, Brian was given lead responsibility for managing the resulting avalanche of litigation. He managed thousands of individual cases and directed attorneys in almost every state in the country. He then took a leading role in negotiating a nationwide class-action settlement which provided $1 billion in compensation to those who were injured by Sulzer Medica’s hip and knee implants.
Our legal and medical knowledge combined with our unique perspective we gained while representing companies in the medical device industry make us formidable adversaries. Our skill as advocates for our clients is best proven by our results. In the last few years alone, we have helped negotiate settlements for hip implant victims that are valued at more than $2.5 billion. We have been appointed to positions of leadership by state court and federal court judges across the country, and we have been key members of trial teams that have obtained awards ranging from $8 million to $1 billion on behalf of victims of defective hip implants.
